Based on real-life events that took place in Lithuania at the end of the 20th century. At a time when criminal groups prevailed and corruption was rampant in the authorities, the biggest source of income for Lithuanian gangs was smuggling cigarettes. At the heart of the series is a gang called the "Princes" who clash with other groups and authorities in Lithuania's brutal underworld at the time..

The beginning of the 90's. Lithuania just became independent, so there is a lot of chaos in political, ecnomical and criminal structures. The every day life more or less is being controlled by the criminal gangs, who feel indestructible by the fear of citizens and the helplessness of government.

The story revolves around three bricklayers who find a chest full of gold Louis coins on a building site. Instead of informing the property owner about it and sharing the trove with him, as the law obliges, they decide to claim that they found it at one of their houses.

Four friends get together to start their career in crime, and extortion. They call themssevles G.A.N.G., which means G=Gangu; A=Abdul; N=Nihal Singh; and G=Gary Rozario. All four come from different cultural and religious backgrounds, but their roots are build on friendship and trust. They do succeed in their criminal goals, but Gangu is arrested and sentenced for five years. Before going to jail, he asks them to promise to go straight, to which they all agree. When Gangu is released, he is pleased to find that Abdul is now driving a taxi, his mother is well looked after, and that Nihal and Gary have also started doing business. It is when Gangu meets his sweetheart, Sanam, and proposes marriage, that he learns that all is not well in their world.
